Family Reunion
In August 2001, to celebrate publication of their family history, members of the Verschuijl and Verschoyle family from all over the world gathered in the Netherlands for a three day reunion. Most were meeting one another for the first time and together were able to visit sites of significance to the family in the villages around Eindhoven and in Haarlem.
Local historians from both areas contributed towards making this event a great success and the final group photograph was taken in the Frans Hals Museum, in front of the painting by Frans Hals, 'Vergarderinng van officieren en onderofficieren van de Cluveniersdoelen te Haarlem', in which an early member of the Verschuijl family is depicted. Special thanks are due to Pieter Biesboer, curator at the Frans Hals Museum, for the work he undertook to guide and inform the family during their time in Haarlem.
